Hold the button until the light flashes, release and push again.Pretty sure thats what I have done.

Yep that's correct. My light has been going off more frequently now because I've developed a slow leak in one of my tires---losing about 5 pounds a week. Yesterday my warning went off, I found it had dropped to 27 pounds while the other 3 tires had 32psi. Off to the tire store tomorrow. The light might be a nuisance, but it sure is handy in situations like this.

Mine has got two flats, one a bad bead at -40F,and one a screw.
Went off after the new snows were put on,and I was pushing them to finnish and the tech. told me it would go off.It did,and after resetting, all is good.
Both times it saw a real problem, tire pressure was down about 4-5 pounds,
works for me

Check your owner's manual. I believe the engine has to be off, and then the key placed in the 2nd position when you reset it. When you start it up, the light should go out.

But if they all went down equally, technically this type of system would not detect it.

Good luck.

Red

Federal law requires all new cars after the 2002 model year to incorporate some sort of tire loss pressure monitoring system. This is specially true for vehicles that come equipped from the factory with runflat tires and carry no onboard spare.

If you don't like this system, then complaint to the National Highway Safety Board.

I just reset mine today. Turned out I had a puncture and I was just leaving the tire repair shop. You can reset it while driving. Just hold down the button below the hand brake until the light stops flashing. Then next time you shut off the engine and start it again, the light will turn off.

No Bad Blinks

My 2002 MCS is 1/2 way through its second set of tires at nearly 68K miles; the wheel speed monitor system has found 5 potential flats (Screws, Metal Chunks, etc.) imbedded in the tires needing repairs with no false alarms yet.
(SoCal commute can be interesting to LAX each day! Avoiding all the metal ladders in lanes is the first rule of survival!)

Most were triggered at 2-3 PSI or so difference in same axle tire pressure (and hence speed differential build-up). Seems to work properly with both the original Pirelli Run-Flats and the Falkein non-runflats I am running now.

Mine shuts off even if the car is moving after I reset it.

I'm confused (so whats new....)

There's the warning light that flashes yellow on the speedometer, and there's the button below the emergency brake that lights...

The button below my emergency brake has frequently had "false alarms" and is easily reset....the yellow flashing light on the speedometer only came on once, and it was correct--I had to have a tire repaired--found a nail....

Can I reset the flashing light on the speedometer myself? I've been driving with it, avoiding the local dealer for as long as possible

See that's the funny thing about our MINI's, there is very little consistency among them on the things that work, and lots of consistency among the things that DON'T work.

I was giving a suggestion about the Daytime Running Lights, that if you have the hand brake on, the lights are off--as they are in my car, and then 2 other people came to tell me that wasn't true, that their DRL are on all the time--so I said, it must be my year 2003, and then someone else comes on and says nope, I've got a 2003 too.

So I dunnno, that's just what I do in my car then, cause it works for me.

Yesterday I held down the button but it never did blink - just stayed on. But, when I fired up the car to respond to a crime scene about midnight last night, the light was off and all seemed well. You know, they are always telling us each of our Minis is unique - maybe they wire them that way too

Well, I tried turning the key and pushing the button, and presto! The flashing light on the speedometer went off! I'm much happier not having that blinking while I drive...

So now I'm even more happy with that part of my tire warning system....the flashing yellow light on the speedometer WORKS! The one time it went off, I needed to replace a tire....

The yellow button below the emergency brake that is, I think, more of a mild warning that the tire pressures are amiss...well, that one I ignore....

Maybe we all just need to get in touch with our MINI's unique and individual ways and wiring...

anyways, thanks for the tip on turning off that damn light!

Well just to add more to the mix,My MINI has a reset button under the e-brake,but it has no light and makes no sound. It is for resetting the low pressure warning only.I reset it after rotating the tires, reset it to keep tabs on a low tire, works when I,m moving.
Remember it takes a mile or so for the sensor to fire if something changes.
Low tire, tire rotation,or tire change, like from summer to winter.
When I got my new snows put on,the tech at my dealer said he did not have time to reset,as I was in a hurry.About a mile from the dealer, the light flashed,I HELD the button till it went solid, release, press till it went off.Works every time
