Temperature gauge faulty
Temperature gauge faulty
Have '05 MCS with faulty water temperature gauge(verified reads 25F high) in center crono gauge pod. Does anyone know if this can be fixed or does anyone have a working crono pod available.
Thanks
Thanks
My suggestion....
Live with it...25°f is not very far off....changing parts can create a VIN# AND MILES mismatch since this info is stored in the 3 units....
Good luck...but this issue might be common....you just happen to find it...and the way you "verified" it could be agetting the temp from a separate spot....
When using guages TRENDS AND CHANGES are more useful than specific numbers....

I agree with Zippy, I would just live with it.
The coolant temp gauge could be bad, but if it was the car would most likely give you an undertemp/overtemp code.
Most of the temp/pressure gauges on modern cars are "dummy" gauges, they just show you an "in the general vicinity", people would freak out when all these gauges were going here there and everywhere, so unless you're overheating or still getting up to temp the needle won't move.

If the sensor is the issue reading 25* less than actual running temp, you engine will run rich like it's in cold start mode 24/7 giving some poor mpg figures.
If you have the Crono pack ( not sure if that is what you are referencing to ) and the gauge is the issue, not the sensor then maybe

simple re-programing may fix this.....When these kits were installed to 05/06's under a retrofit situation some programing was required at the dealer.

Temp Issue
In response to "gRay rAvEn" the car was ordered w/the Crono Pack and built to order. I don't know if the dealer installed the Crono Pack or the factory. My mechanic put in a new sensor which was not the problem. The mechanic said would have to get a new gauge. If this was an analog gauge I could pull the gauge needle and reposition it at the correct temperature. My mechanic used a Infra red temperature meter and confirmed the temperature was correct at 200F. I do not have start or cold problems as the temperature here is 90F and gas mileage is ok. The dealer said the gauge can only be replaced with a new Crono Pack and they no longer have them. Thanks all. MCART5
