This may be a new one...

I was looking at my MINI yesterday (04 MCS w/16" v-spokes) and I noticed the rear driver's side looked a little low. I couldn't really tell from the body as a whole but from the gap above the tire. I measured the four corners and the driver's side rear is about 1/2" to 3/4" lower. I don't think it's the tires because there is definitely a difference in the gap above it and the wheel well. Any thoughts? It seems to drive and handle fine.

Perhaps the molding is loose or crooked?
If not, take it back to the dealer and give them some of this

.

Good luck

There's no need for luck on Mini58's part. It's not his car as he said he saw it at the dealership.

Mini58 - did you point this out to the salesperson there. They may need to get the car in service to check it out before someone who's not as observant buys it.

I guess, I don't have command of the english language, but what does " I was looking at my MINI" mean?

I guess if it's not his yet, don't buy that MINI.

How fortuitous of him to have a tape measure handy just when the time calls for it....at the MINI dealership...

yeah, I already own it. I've got about 4000 fun filled miles on it so far.

There have been many instances of the prep people forgetting to take the shipping blocks out of the springs on new MINI's. Maybe they only took it out of one spring on yours? You should certainly have it checked out in any case.

I remember some folks on here noticing the shipping blocks were still in after thousands of miles of driving. After having them removed, they found they liked the handling better with them in!

actually, this is relatively normal. The MINI seems to "sit" lower in the left rear and right front than their axle mates. I know this sounds like an impossibility, and I'd nail it down to imperfect wheel-arch mountings

example: MINI "X" sits the following (good representation):
front left: 25.375
front right: 25.25
rear left: 24.875
rear right: 25.0

(BTW< FYI); this ride height is about normal for an '03 MCS with sunroof. I've noticed up to a half inch variation in ride height depending on build date and optional equipment. ('02's that are loaded sit the lowest, '04's with no options are "lift-kit' MINI's!)
