Check Engine/Fast Idle/Cleaned Intercooler

After removing my intercooler and cleaning oily deposits, and driving approximatly 50 miles, the check engine light and a fast idle speed are happening. The car also sounds louder when at idle. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks......

Check the intercooler connections.

You are probably getting an air leak on one of the connectors you removed.

Take it apart again and make sure everything goes together perfectly.

i would rather have an light that tells me when the enigne (or maybe the car) is possibly having some problems (even if there might be none) than a blown up enigne or something..... without it i think many people would never know whey they might have any problems.........

The "Check Engine" light is connected to the ECU.

And the ankle-bone is connected to the..... Never mind.

The engine-management and control computer is the one the lights up the EML, MIL or check engine light.

It does like you suggest and runs a million tests, and if any of them fail, it lights up the light.

Think of it as a "The car's computer would like to talk to your dealer's computer" light.

If you are interested, I'll type in some of the things that can light up the MIL.

If the Check engine light come on because you didn't install the intercooler on right, will it go away after you fix the leak?

Trippy, What is the error code for an intercooler leak? Where can I find all the codes that make the Check Engine Light go on? Thanks for your help!
