now the Horn has taken a dump...

this mini really is starting to fall apart all around me, despite keeping good maintenance on it....

now the damn Horn has taken a dump. it sounds like a weak sauce childs power wheels car horn, meeeh meeeeh. (was wondering why my wailing on the horn to a-hole drivers was not getting me any reactions!)

wtf is up with this? ive hardly ever hear of a horn taking a dump like this, yes the car has a lot of miles (106k), but its only 7 years old.

is this a "common" issue? the only "upside" is its an excuse to put a harbor freight air horn in there somewhere (except my entire workshop is packed away in a garage in another city )

i find myself posting in the "stock problems and issues" section more and more now. its getting depressing!

You actually have 2 horns....
So one has been dead a bit...that's why it sounds so odd...easy fix...universal or exact fit.
....might be a good excuse to upgrade to a airhorn...aka like a truck or train...can be quite interesting on a car as small as a mini!!

Yep , set in right be hind the bumper in front of the wheel well.

61337193996 is the low tone horn.

61337193997 is the high tone horn.

This sits above the front fog light on the passenger side of the core support.

You could try to get it from the wheel well but I don't want you to damage the core support bending it back.

I would suggest taking the bumper main skin off and then replacing it there.

Looks like you have the correct part.

Here is a link to a helpful guide: Just get to the bumper cover part and you can access the horn. You should not have to take off any support metal bracing.

Another option is to go with the Hellas: Which are very similar in design to OEM.

or Air trumpet kit if you really want to be loud.

Thanks

The OEM horns are poop. I am the 2nd owner of a 2006 JCW and the horns were replaced twice: once by the original owner and once by myself.

I had the same problem that the OP described. One horn completely failed and the other one (high tone) sounded like it belonged on a clown's car. When I removed them, I found that both contained water!

I replaced them with Hella Supertones last fall.

+1 for the way too loud fog horn... but I don't know where you'd be able to mount them

Holy hell,

so you just refill your 'horn tank' whenever it starts going flat? how long does that last you? I bet that thing sounds like the apocalypse coming.
