Squeaky Windows Fixed!!!

I finally fixed the window squeak i got when the car was sitting in the sun on hot days! The dealer tried but failed.
So i got out the old torx driver and grease gun and went to work...

Remove 4 torx screws. 1 is under reflector. (Pry off from bottom) The 2 screws closest to door hinges are longer. Pry off door latch/speaker cover(from middle-top). Door panels are held on by plastic button snap thingys so well they sound like a handgun when releasing. Use something wider than a screwdriver like a stiff putty knife with tape covering the leading edge. pick a lower corner, insert approx. 1.5 in. & pry. Pop the rest by hand. Make sure all are loose except the top row. Grab both upper corners of the door panel & yank from one end or the other, directly towards you. Yank both at once you'll probably end up on your. plus it sounds like you really broke something, BANG. OK, window guide rails need grease(mine had very little). Raise the window & take a peek, Interesting design, 2 guide rails 3/4 out from center, nylon guides gripping front & back of rails. Only the front & back of the outer & more difficult to reach sides of the rails need greasing. Rub the grease in. Rub it in well. Wash your hands. If it still squeaks go directly to dealer. If it does'nt make sure to line up the plastic fasteners on the door panel using your eyes, glasses, flashlight. Then use your fist to snap it back on. Finally replace the 4 torx screws, reflector and tweeter/door handle cover.

Here's the whole article with a pic...

Hopefully this helps someone else. I know i can't be the only one with this problem...

My dealer acted as if the squeak was a known problem that they had seen before. I have been reading about this issue since before I bought the car, so I assumed the dealer had seen it numerous times.
I was very disapointed that I was given the "unable to duplicate" message. I had mentioned at least twice the car does it on both windows after sitting in the sun. So I wasn't suprised when the tempreture dropped and the car sat in the shop, they were unable recreate it. I figured this is no big deal, they have seen this issue enough times, just apply whatever fix you have been doing all along and that should do it.
When I mentioned that to my SA, his response was "I could adjust that thing all day long, I still won't know if it's fixed, since it isn't doing it now". A valid point, it also made it very clear to me however, that they had absoulutely no idea what causes it and if they have ever successfully fix it, it involved much trial and error, or possibly even some luck.

So when they delivered the car back too me, and the window on the passenger was squeaking, I was growing a little thin on patience. Aparrently the tech had told them I waxed my windows, and therefore it was my fault anyway.

3 weekes later the window they claimed to fix, still squeaks. A technical bulletin obvious needs to sent to the dealerships on this. Their lack of ability to correctly handle this issue is not instilling confidence in the dealer, the dealers service department, the tech's or the product in general.
Even a inexpensive car shouldn't have squeaky windows. imo.

Thanks for taking time to put the correct fix together for us, I hope somebody will do it for MINI as well.

Ah, if that were only an option. When I bought my MCS, they said I could have any option I wanted. So I asked for non-powered windows. She looked at me like I was crazy, and said that wasn't offered. Then I asked for no airbags, and you can guess the response. So I figured the h3ll with it, and got the sport and luxury packages. Now my next project is to figure out how to get all that crap out of my car...
