I just did mine the other day. I have an S with a wing and it cleared no problem. I have read that you may need to either take off the wing or remove/loosen the screws holding it on and moving the wing a bit. I would do a quick search and take a look.

Not much action on my post I did some more research and found the hatch spoiler needs to be removed, I probably won't mess with it and put the light back in the box, AL.

The spoiler is only held on with a couple nuts. It is really easy to remove.

I must be missing something here, I took the 2 nuts out and this this stuck down with some kind of adhesive, don't want to break it, AL.

Where is everbody on this! Well I'm reporting back and have replaced my center brake light on my 2003 MINI. Yes it was a "PITA" and poorly engineered for a replacement stan point! I bought a set of 3 plastic scraper/chisel set from Snap On and worked pretty good but a great deal of care is needed to protect the rear soft out side window molding/weather strip because the tool will be laying against it. The tool must be to outside angles (facing you) and not forcing the tool in to far, just enough to have the light assembly clear. Do not insert the tool on the out side edges, work the soiler from the rear side to side of the lens. If I can help out let me know. AL.
