hi im new to this

I own a 2005 Mini Cooper and recently it has been giving me overheating issues. I was driving one day with my AC on and suddenly the air turned very hot and my needle started to rise. Im not a huge car guy so a friend of mine told me to come here. My car works just fine without AC but once I turn it on it begins to overheat. If anyone can please help me with my problem and im sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum just really want some help see if its something I can fix myself.

Welcome! I just saw your posting, and since nobody else has responded yet, you should check to make sure your fan is working properly. There are two speeds. I believe the low speed comes on within a minute or so of when the AC turns on or around 195 degrees. It should always be running when the ac is on. The high speed comes on when the engine gets warmer 205 or so? I cycles on and off in intervals of about 15 seconds and is very loud. The solution, if not just replacing a fuse, or a relay, it to either replace the fan, or remove/bypass the blown resistor on the fan and solder in a new one. Here's the sticky thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...-solution.html
Check that your power steering fan is working as well as on some years (earlier than yours I believe), they influence one another.
Good luck!
