Morse Code Noise at High Speeds?

So I was on a closed course in Mexico yesterday....

Anyway, the car makes this weird, really loud noise at speeds above 95 mph. It literally sounds like morse code and its loud. Obviously it's some sort of vibration.

It's not rpm dependent as it doesn't do it at higher rpm's in lower gears. And it's not gear dependent as it will do it in 4, 5, and 6.

I can't be the only person who's experienced this but I'm new to the car.

It's sounds like it's coming from the dash or hood cowl area. My guess is it's wind speed related but beyond that I don't know.

I'd check all the outside trims around the windshield, etc. It doesn't take much of a gap for air to make noises.

Valves

I wonder if it could be valves not seating properly at higher RPM? Which is related to the Cam Shaft lobes.

Just guessing ..... first thought that came to mind and I have not taken apart a Mini but other cars.

I have the same issue, it did it today, I've had this issue since I got the car over a year ago, I thought it was maybe the flywheel and clutch issue, it's kind of metal on and off but it sounds as if it was coming out of the dash as mentioned above it's speed related , it doesn't happen all the time at the same speed, but it does it from time to time. Performance is not affected but I wonder what could happen in the future if it keeps happening.

The only reason I do not think it's that is because it doesn't happen in any of the lower 3 gears when I run it right up to red line.

You have to be going at least 90-95 plus. So I assume it's something wind related. But who knows?

It is really really loud though.... Very odd.

What is the minimum speed for you to hear it?

For the first time today the lowest speed was around 73 mph but it will start at around 90

Weird. Hopefully we figure this out. It's really disconcerting.

If you think that it's only wind related, buy a roll of wide painter's tape and mask what you think create the noise, edges of windows/trims, etc. You can go by elimination from there.

Thanks for the suggestion but I'm 95% sure that it's not wind related! I wish it was lol
