07 Cooper S What TPMS System do I have?
07 Cooper S What TPMS System do I have?
I just picked up a set of used JCW two piece wheels that I want to install on my 2007 Mini Cooper S. I have a buyer for my existing set of Alloy wheels and tires, but before I sell I want to make sure I am not putting myself in a position t send more money.
The new JCW wheels have just a plain rubber valve stem.
My existing Allow Wheels have a rubber valve stem but not sure if there is a sensor or something internally or it it uses pressure and revolutions...
How can I tell without having a tire removed from my existing car?

Looks like you have the rubber valve stem from the picture , but I need a better one up close. Early 07' Gen 2 MINIs still had the simple wheel speed sensor (ABS ) reading system with the rubber valve. Then they went to the metal stems with the in wheel sensor , sensor bolts to wheel stem . See #7 and #8 pairing in the diagram below.

Like mentions above from injectedgt. Both have the rubber valve , then your good.
In this link I talk about the cutoff dates and time frames on the systems based off of production.
Here the link .

Great information guys, thank you! How did we ever live without Forums to share information years ago?
Yep both wheel sets have the Rubber traditional valve stem so I am going to assume that it uses the Indirect Pressure system as described by ECS and InjectedGT and no hardware is used internally.
When I get a warning that pressure is low, it's just a general message. In my other vehicles I get a specific tire message (left front, Right rear, etc..) I guess that is another way of knowing I have an Indirect pressure system in place of the direct TPS system...
Does 2008 and up mini's give you a specific tire pressure warning when using the direct system?
