I won't tell you the answer - but I will tell you where you can find it, here: http://www.*********************/library/all-about-mini-coopers-17/ecu-codes-chart---2nd-generation-mini-102/

replace the *****s with the name of that other forum site about minis, motor ing alliance dot com (seems to be some filtering going on for posting links, LOL.)

That list ought to be in a sticky here on NAM.

Well since your link does not work and you did not help, let me
The code P2187 system too lean at idle bank 1.(Too lean at idle= not enough fuel per the amount of air when the engine is idle.) Possible issues MAF, low fuel pressure, vacuum leak engine, failed heated oxygen sensor bank 1
Also could be the High Pressure Fuel Pump is failing

Should also mention depending on mileage it could need a carbon cleaning.

of course the link doesn't work (thanks to the forum SW filtering out certain names), read the clue underneath.

2008 MCS 44k I have dropped 4k in last year on timing chain mess a turbo return line and a brake booster I really hope that this isn't another labor intensive issue I was fine until warranty expired and then 22 days later timing chain went and its been downhill from there and the dealership here I don't know if I really trust and I hate to say that

You need to be looking mainly at the HPFP and dirty injectors IMO. Do you have an after market rubber flexible air intake hose? These can intermittently cause that code to be thrown. I would check also the intake tubes and intercooler tubes.
Unless you are mechanically inclined I would take it to a MINI mechanic or the dealership.
I am betting it is your HPFP though.

What is the HPFP?

Oh ok a friend just told me .
So Bram you are referring to the High pressure fuel pump, ok but does it make any sense the fact that the CEL turned off and then after a few days it turned back on again? I mean if it was the HPFP, the CEL should never turn off, am i right? Aren't issues of the HPFP permanent if they go bad?

unfortunately other members have had problems with their HPFP and their mini dealers refused to even look at it until after a carbon cleaning... Good luck.

So I drained gas tank down to 2 bars then added a bottle of 104 with engine cleaner then drive for 50 miles then shut off engine light and then I filled up with 95 octane from a race shop and then drove 100 miles and so far so good no light but its still early

Hi everybody.I have the same errors. P2187 via OBD scanner and 2785 via BMW DIS.Also i saw that additive and multiplicative correction of O2 sensors are very high (6.8% and 1.08) They start to increese after i reset rhe codes and become to these values after one minute. After additive correction reach 6% the engine fall to safe mode and power loss after 5rpm.Did anyone fix this issues?***

So guys, i haven't fixed it yet but it certainly seems to be an oil burning/leaking issue. Spark plugs are in a very bad condition so i guess that indicates a bad combustion. I also had a look to see inside the piston chamber with a camera and on the top of the pistons there were oil drops and burned oil, so i guess this oil leakage there could mean bad piston springs. But these are just a first indication, i guess ill be able to see for certain in a few days when ill take the car in for checking!

Genik, do you have DIS or INPA?
I want to ask you to check additive and multiplicative corrections of lambda(O2) regulation.
Spark plugs in normal condition in my case.

Ventilation of fuses in carter is one of posability reasons of this issue.
Aslo check here
I tried to disconnect this valve. If engine is hot - all well, if engine is cold - it work bad, a lot of misfire. I think disconection of this valve switch off lamda regulation, because while it disconected correction did not increese.

I do not think so) if you have a MCS you will be a expert)
DIS or INPA is BMW diagnostic software. It give a lot of info for diagnostic.
I provide here a screenshot with error from INPA, sorry it in german. And another in russian that show corrections)

Hi all,

I replaced HPFP yesterday and it didn't fix this issue. Additive correction still increesed too much and error appears again. But multiplicative correction now near the 1.

As you can at the pic below:
Multiplicative it is "множительная", additive it is "суммирующая"
