2011 Cooper S with 48,000 was having a "close gas cap" warning popping up at random intervals....and right before I took it in for scheduled service it backfired on an on ramp and I limped home with half engine light on. Service advisor told me before they picked it up that the seal may have gone bad on the gas cap....thus throwing the yellow engine light. Goes in for service, and they find a fouled plug in cylinder 3 which they replace. 3 days after getting it back it throws the gas cap/engine light again. Email service advisor = gas cap seal or 20 starts and stops should fix it. So I give it forty starts and stops....still popping up at random. Send email with no response.....buy my own gas cap.....put it on. At least 20 starts and stops later....still throwing the lights at random. Anybody else had this experience?
