bolt strength for harmonic pulley puller question

Can I use 3 M6 bolts from ace hardware or should I get high strength bolts from Fastenal to prevent the risk of the bolts snapping while using the puller. Here is a photo of the bolts I have.

Thanks.

Considering the relatively low price of high strength bolts and the aftermath of trying to extract the broken Ace bolts, I'd go ahead and order the high strength ones.
Also try www.McMaster.com They sometimes have better pricing.

FWIW, the bolt you pictured (A2-70) is a medium grade stainless steel. It will probably work, but I wouldn't risk it.

That's what I used, bent the hell out of them, but they worked.

M6 in Grade 8.8 and length depends on your puller width and your crank pulley(early thick or late thinner pulley). Looks like you have a 2006 so thinner crank pulley. You can stack washers or cut bolts to make it work with your pulley. I'd say at least 65mm or 2.5"+.

Thanks Jeremy

I was able to source a better harmonic pulley puller from my neighbo.

It is a little smaller and thinner than the ones found at the local auto parts store plus the center bolt of the puller fits into the crank pulley hole

Found a link on Motoring Alliance but it will not paste here.
