Top Engine Mount - can I drive around with a broken one?

My top engine mount sprayed all the oil out of it last night.

Can I drive with it broken?

You can in the short time , but you will get the clunk noise when shifting sometimes. Clean up the oil as much as you can because it does stain on the frame paint when it leaks out. I still have little the stain mark on mine.

Here is the part: Part number 22116778610 in case you need it.

Thanks

You can drive around with it broken and the engine is not going to fall out. Longterm it will do damage to other mounts and possibly the clutch, but for the short time till you can get one it's not going to fall apart.

You will be fine for a few hundred miles.....
Heck some folks might go a few years and not realize it.....
You will feel you shifts and cruise control disconnects are more harsh....and maybe hear a thunk....

Make sure you have a new torx screw.
Mine snapped when I unscrewed it because it was corroded from the hydraulic oil leaking onto it.

It screws into the bottom of the mount.

Pretty easy DIY, specially if you are installing a pulley because the motor has to be lifted to fit the puller in.

I got the mount from Pelican Parts (vendor) for like 79 bucks. Check your bottom mount too, may be worth replacing it while you're at it.

I can't do it myself. I have no space to work. Going to have to have a shop do it.

Bummer.

If you're going to have someone install the 15% it shouldn't take anymore than an additional 15 mins to get the mount in. Check to see if there is any Mini club around you, I've installed a few pulleys for local Mini club members for a case of beer
