Sat Radio ....acquiring.... no audio

So I have had this problem from time to time and normally a full power cycle of the car would fix it (shut off and remove fob from dash)

Today for my full 1.5 hour commute I could not get this to clear even had Sirius resend the activation signal three times with no change.

Any suggestions, tips, previous dealings? seems to be quite a common issue with 2010 and up BMW's !!

And as to the car it's a 2011 Mini Cooper HT base with Harmon Karden radio with ..... 70K so I am on my own outta pocket for repairs

very thankful for any help

Chris

So got the call from the dealer the antenna array is bad and will cost 500.00 to fix and I believe I still have to pay the 125.00 to have them look at it.

This is rally pathetic that a fixed antenna fails on a two year old car!!!!

Any suggestions on how to bypass the factory sat antenna and go aftermarket?

While I don't have any experience with this particular repair, I've had plenty of experience with dealing with dealers after my warranty has expired. And as a rule of thumb, once my warranty expires, I find a new tech to service my car(s). There are plenty of authorized techs working in other auto shops in every major city who can service your justa for a lot less.

Another alternative is to take it to your local stereo shop and see if there are any aftermarket antennas that utilize the same housing as the OEM unit. If there aren't, I think you're wasting your time there. Don't let anyone give your dash a hatchet job.

Hope this helps.

So I had requested the dealer to contact Mini NA to see if a goodwill repair could be done due to the age of the car.

And the good news is it was approved total cost outta pocket for me is 130.00 inc the loaner for the day provided they get the car done tonight.

Still annoyed about a passive part going south @ 25 months however must give credit to Mini NA and Mini of Mt Laural for stepping up and doing the right thing.

Looking foward to Sat radio, and Stick for the morning commute.... I hate auto's
