Main Engine Wiring Harness

How hard is this to replace?

My dealership wants $350 for this. Said about $10 in parts and 2 hours of labor. If I can save $240 doing it myself I would like to.

Are the wires in the below pic part of the Engine wiring harness?

Hello,

I think i talked about this before, but did not know if you saw it.

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ese-wires.html

Thanks and hop that helps. Also , did you turn this into your insurance or did they not want to cover it?

ahh yes you did reply previously. I talked with the the Mini dealership again and he advised those wires (in my attached picture) are not the engine harness wires but that they will fix those also. I guess I never saw the damage that he is speaking of.

I am a little disapointed with the dealership becuase I just had my Mini in there 2 weeks ago for a $700 service which included a major inspection of everything but clearly they missed the engine wiring harness and the wires in my picture which are very obvious.

I didn't think about asking my insurance if it covers something like this. I will give them a call. Thanks.

On a related note...

I recently replaced the clutch, flywheel, thermostat, coolant hoses, and a bunch of other things while I was in there, and when it was all said and done, the Intake Air Temperature sensor connector crumbled due to age, as well as the wiring connector(s) that go to the thermostat. I've had a CEL for sometime now, and the codes read P0113 and P0128. The fan runs almost constantly, and stays on for ~7 minutes after the car is shut off.

It's absurd to pay $400 to replace the entire engine wiring harness for what are essentially two snap connectors. Is there a way to replace just the end fittings, or should I source a used component from the usual suspects?

What are you connecting MonzMini? Replugging the harness or patching the wires?

Installing a completely new harness. I had pictures but the phone I had when I tore it down is very dead... It all seemed pretty easy until I got to the harness.
