Coolant

Does anyone have a recommendation on coolant or do I need to use the Mini brand? I went to the dealer and parts closed at 1pm on Saturdays.

Thanks

I thought he meant if he did a coolant flush what brand to use. That's what brand I always use. The "MINI coolant" is overrated. It's just to make you think otherwise IMO.

And mini/bmw DID update the coolant to "lifetime" or longlife when they switched from the old color jug to the new...old bmw was white jug, new is silver...not sure on mini, but same blue colour...compatible anyway.

Thanks for the feedback. It is acutely my wife's 2010 R57. It is just below the min line.

Curious. I have a 2007 r56 s and the coolant is orange. I'm guessing this is aftermarket long life coolant. What color is the mini stuff?

Any coolant that is G48 spec is best. (Blue in color)

Its the factory stuff.

http://www.glysantin.com/files/basf_...iew_a4_e_1.pdf - Its what Mini/BMW ships with from the factory.

Everyone keeps draggin up the Zerex G05 stuff, which... is not the right stuff..

No, its not the same. Don't mix coolants.

If you just need a little - order this stuff, its 9$ for 1.5L. You mix it with 1.5L of distilled water.

http://www.germanautoparts.com/productdisplay/78014

Or of course the stuff ECS sells is perfect.

Its orange, guessing the prestone coolant that works for 98% of the cars now. I will check on switching it out, guessing I can the flush and refill.
