Clutch Dropped to the floor when shifting

Well i was getting on the highway the other night when i went to shift into 4th my clutch dropped to the floor. I pulled over pulled the pedal back by hand and still had hydraulic pressure. But would not go into any gear. I Shut the car off put it in gear started the cars and tried to move but it would seem that the clutch is jammed some how it would start to move but would slip/burn the clutch and when it started to gain grip the car would shudder and stall as if i was in 5th gear trying to go from a stop. i have owned manuals since i started driving and have had many of them and a few with trash clutches and never seen this happen. Richard at Mini Peabody says its possible that its the slave cylinder. I have no idea and for those who wil ask its not leaking any fluids and the brake resi is full. Please help here cause the dealer i bought the car from will not. if this turns out to be a fixable item without removing the tranny i can do it but i just need to know what it is

It has to be leaking somewhere. Inspect the Slave " output cylinder " and the Master "input cylinder" first to make sure they are not leaking.

What month/ year production of your MINI? I take it you have a Cooper S?

Near the transmission: "output / slave cylinder"

Near the pedal on the interior : "Input/ master cylinder"

Thanks and I hope that helps.

Last 7 digits of your VIN will determine the production and I can get you the correct parts.

Thanks and let me know.

Listening to your symptoms, I doubt that it's your slave cylinder. It sounds more like your clutch has failed. If you smell burning/feel a slip and shudder, I see a new clutch in your future. I'd bet big money that it's not your master/output--that's pretty rare.
