Exhaust pops gone while service due?

12 Coupe. My first oil change by the dealership is due in about 500 miles at 11.5k. At about 10.5k, the service due light came on. I am noticing that when in sport mode, I can't get the exhaust to pop at all. I'm taking the car in for the oil change next week but wanted to know if anybody else noticed this. Is this some type of safeguard implemented by the ecu when service is due. No problems otherwise. I've been doing my own oil changes at 3k, 6k and 8.5k.

They could have upgraded your ECU to newer versions, which may change that behaviour. That was the case with the N14 cars, which received an update sometime in 2009 removing the pop & burble. Those who did not have their cars updated were not affected.

I've heard of Mini altering ecu firmware during service. The problem is my car has not been in to get serviced yet. I'm actually hoping that after I take it in for the oil change that resetting the service indicator will return it to normal. Vroom....Pop,pop!

Unsolicitive advise, don't wait til 10k for an oil change, have it sone at

5k and your car will thank you.

Melangell, I'm sure with your exhaust set up you have no problem hearing the pops. Maybe I should look onto a setup like yours. Also, I agree with changing the oil at least every 3k on a turbo car. My first post explains that my car has already thanked me three times.
