Door lock (not actuator) repair?
Door lock (not actuator) repair?
Is there any way to fix this part of the door locking mechanism- the actual, put the key in it lock:

The actuator stopped unlocking with the remote so I had been using the key to get into the car, until one day that stopped working as well- the lock would turn left or right as it should but the drivers side door would not unlock. Tried it again on a later day and then the key started going around and around.
If no fix, I'm assuming this is a dealer thing because I need it to work with my existing key, correct?

Correct, unless you can source a pin repair set. the tumbler has several pins that are numbered. its a matter of setting them all out in a row and replacing all of them and possibly the tumbler itself. I'll bet the dealer has this repair set. doubt they would sell you what you need though :/ My hunch is based on my experience as a Honda tech as all the above was the case.
So, it turns out there is no repair for this part. It's $112 or something like that at the dealer and the procedure is the same as if you are ordering a key- license and title/registration and payment up front. It takes longer, about two weeks to get the door lock in.
The front and back pop off as you can see in these photos:

Here's the back; at far left you can see the part that engages with the actuator and how parts of it have broken off so that it is no longer connected to the lock and no longer turns with the key. I can't imagine why automobile manufacturers are still using "pot metal" to make door lock components such as this. I suppose that cast aluminum would be a bit more expensive but would probably be less brittle.

Here's the front where the key goes in. The plastic ring pops off giving you access to the little door and spring.
If anybody sees anything in these pictures they need/would like PM me and it's off to you in the mail, no charge.
