Side skirt loose

The last little bit of my side skirt on the passenger side is loose about 2-3 inches. This has been an issue ever since I bought the car almost a year ago, but I was never too bothered by it, because you can barely see it. But now that I have some free time I thought I'd figure out how to get looking right. It doesn't look broken, but it seems to have popped out one way or another. Does anyone have any tips for or experience with putting it back on? It would be greatly appreciated.

Attached is a pic showing which area I mean. This is the driver's side, so not the side with the issue. (The mini is parked against my garage wall and I didn't want to move it just for a pic )

Mine is the same way. There are many clips behind the side skirt holding it in place. One of them is broken.

I figured it would be an easy job to remove it and replace the broken clip. To my surprise, in order to remove the side skirt, you must "destroy" the door sill cover to get to the 4 clips underneath, remove 9 screw in clips on the bottom of the sill, then pull the side skirt and its remaining clips off. I ended up destroying all of the clips when I removed it.

So, for a $0.99 clip, I ended up spending $75 for a new sill cover and new clips. I should have purchased the single broken clip, removed the surrounding clips from the broken one and carefully installed the new clip in place of the broken one.

Let my mistake help you in your quest to fix your side skirt.

BTW, use http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...49&hg=51&fg=55 to figure out what the part numbers are for the clips. There are two different clips on the sill, like 9 of one and 2 of another. Make sure you get the correct one.

Good luck,
Mike

Awesome! Thanks for the instructions! Will take a look and see if I can fix it without having to replace everything

You DO NOT need to destroy that stainless steel trim cover. The adhesive can be cut with a length of music wire. Then reapply with 3M trim tape. I put S rockers on my Cooper and easily re-used those trim pieces. Bummer on wasting 75 bucks.
