Hey all I just changed the coolant via the method here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...g-coolant.html

I have bled the system via the bleed screw as instructed (until coolant comes out the bleed screw). I can't go a block without overheating now. Any idea what I did wrong?

There is more than one bleed screw. My 06 Just A Cooper has four of them and not all are shown in the Bentley manual. Also with the thermostat closed you will not get all the coolant in that you drained out. Heat up the engine, shut the engine off, add coolant through the various bleed screws, check add more, repeat, this may/will take several attempts to get the air out unless there is another problem.

I have a 2005 S. I just bled at the front radiator site. Where is/are the other bleed screw(s) located at?

And the hits keep on coming. Now my boyfriend has dropped the bleeder screw into the engine compartment and it is nowhere to be found. I'm about to drink the coolant myself and say forget it.

That has got to be the most frustrating thing, dropping a screw. HATE that.

Managed to fish out the screw, get the line bled and am in business now.Pulling my head out of the oven. Thanks all!!

Seems to be.

It's a *****, for sure. The bleeder screw is one part I keep a spare of on hand. Between removing my engine for the Getrag swap, installing the JCW head, replacing a bad thermostat gasket, and then a leaky radiator, I've done my share of bleeding these systems. I've actually gotten pretty good at it

Edit: I'm fully expecting either my heater matrix, or water pump to give out in the dead of winter. Par for the course with this car.

Stupid 2nd bleeder screw threw me for a loop at 1:30 in the morning after swapping my supercharger out. It was late, I didnt have my laptop to check nam. Drove home and back the next day mad a 1min google search could have had me running.

WHY 2 BLEEDER SCREWS WHY BMW DO YOU MAKE SUCH ODDBALL DESIGN DECISIONS WITH THESE CARS.

My Wife's Z3 has one bleeder screw on the radiator, and that won't get all of the air out of the system unless you bleed it parked on an incline. Good thing for internet forums like these and a steep driveway!
