Sunroof / water leak problems
Sunroof / water leak problems
I have a 2009 Mini JCW.
I had a problem with the sunroof where the sunroof doesn't open when the car is parked out in the heat for hours.
I left the car at the dealership, and they changed the rail and fixed it.
It's been raining here in NY so I haven't had a chance to test it, but the sunroof seems to open more smoothly than before.
However, a new problem has arise.
It rained on Wednesday (day I picked up the car), and on Friday morning (I didn't use my car on Thursday), there was mist all around INSIDE the car. It wasn't just foggy windows, but drops of water formed all over the windshield, sunroof, and windows.
I figured that the sunroof hasn't been sealed completely when the dealership fixed the sunroof and made an appointment.
It's still raining today on Saturday, and this morning I was driving and although there wasn't mist inside the car this time, I found out that water was leaking in from the four corners below the headliners from the 'airbag' sign. Also, the rear seat is completely soaked!
I'm going to drop of my car next week, and they'll probably look at the leaks, but the soaked seats really bothers me, and also I'm worried if the airbags will work when it's probably all wet now.
Any suggestions on why water is leaking from the 'airbag' signs, and what I should request from the dealership?
Do you guys think I can request the dealership to do something with the seats and sunroof (such as replacing it with a new one, etc)?
Any opinions and suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Some or all of the sunroof drains tubes (all four corners) are either pinched off, missing, or plugged up. Sunroofs in cars don't completely seal (just like your door windows), the seals block most of the water, and the water that enters the sunroof (or doors) drains down and out of the vehicle.
I wouldn't worry too much about the side airbag system because if there was a problem the airbag light would light up, but I would worry more about the computer modules under the front seats (ABS/Stability Control, bluetooth, sat tuner) more so as those could be potentially sitting in water. Also, the SPEG computer module (and fuse box) located on passenger (right) side the kick panel could be getting dripped on as well. And alternatively on the left side kick panel of the car, the FRM module (mostly lighting and windows) could be getting wet as well.
