I took my 2009 in for the recall on the water pump and I told my service advisor about how loud it was sometimes when I cold start it. He first said they all sound like that. I then said " like my ford diesel truck?" he then said well no. We can check the timing chain tensioner. When we went out to check the car he noticed the bump on the hood scoop and said he would order me a new one and it will come with a guard to protect it from the turbo heat. Under warranty I asked. He said yes. Can't say anything bad about Mini of San Antono and service advisor John.
