Problem with windows today

So my 2012 Coupe S just had a hiccup today. For about an hour my windows did not work.

The passenger side would do their little down and up thing when you opened the door but would not move otherwise.

The drivers side would pop down when you opened the door but not back up. Then after a few times popping down it would not move at all.

I tried the reset trick I saw posted: hold the window switch in the up position for 10 seconds. That didn't fix anything.

After an hour of me running errands the windows magically started working again.

When they were not working I made an appt which I plan on keeping for the moment in case the windows act up again.

Hopefully just a hiccup with a sensor or something and I'll have no further issues. I just hit 10k miles.

That could be just one sign of a bad battery in the car as well. These cars do really crazy things of many different sorts when the battery is not charged properly.

If you do lots of short trips in you MINI like going to work 5-10 minute each way and no long trips of more than 30 minutes in a week then the charging system really does not keep up with a good charge on the battery.

There are many threads here that will tell you the same thing about the charging issue. It is just the way the MINI works. So get out and take a nice long drive once in a while.

Also of note is that the MINI OEM battery is notorious for failing early. mine was replaced after just 22 months and many many people have complained about it not lasting. I have even read reports of people having it changed in the first few thousand miles.

You can also go to most auto parts stores and have the battery checked for free. If it fails then have MINI replace it for free.

I had to have the battery replaced after less than 6 weeks and 700 miles. After it was replaced I have not had a problem. I think they get the originals from Wal Fart.

Even WalMart batteries are 1000% better than the OEM battery. No I dont work for WalMart.

Just a little more info I have received from another source (Facebook)

.....
This happened to a handful of MINI Owners during the recent MTTS event. Not Model specific. It seemed to be prevalent during the early stages when the temperatures were extreme. The local Dealer Service Departments blamed it on the heat. It seemed to "fix itself" after driving for a while
.....

It was a warm afternoon when the Windows weren't working. Not the hottest day recently but it was close to 100. There hasn't been a repeat of the problem as of yet.
