Death Rattle Question!

I believe I hear the begining of a death rattle. Its not as bad as some of the videos Ive seen online. I was wondering if I had the Tensioner replaced if it would fix/prevent the problem even if what Im hearing isnt a death rattle. My vehicle is not under warranty so and answers on price outside of warranty would be great. And if you have had the tensioner replaced did it fix the problem permanetly?

You could just be low on oil. Please read up more in the threads here as all of this has already been discussed a length here.

I recently had the whole timing chain "cartridge" replaced (basically the chain and related parts). Cost was roughly $1,800. Just the tensioner is a $60+/- part and about an hour of labor. In the past I had just the tensioner replaced under warranty and I replaced it once myself as a DIY.

Buy the tensioner bolt (parts.com for $25) and try that first. Mine started making the sound about 8months ago and i went with the bolt. Quiet as normal and no issues since. It was super easy to install. Just buy the socket and 5 mins.
For as cheap as it is, its an easy fix that may solve the problem. The new one is slightly long with firmer spring.
