Does anyone have any experience with a "BECK/ARNLEY 1312369" as a replacement for the waterpump on an R53? The price looks too good to be true ($43), so....what's it about? Should I just suck it up and buy a Gates, or...?

 

Since the job is a PIA I would pick the best water-pump money can buy.

"Piece of mind" so you don't have to worry about it leaking again.

 

Yeah, well, there is that. I'm doing it pre-emptively--It started with a rattle that I thought was the tensioner. Taking it apart (just this afternoon) revealed that it's the idler. That'll be another 1/2 week waiting for parts. So, as long as the car is out of service, I'll check/fill the SC. And might as well replace the waterpump, too. Geez. Coupla bucks here, coupla bucks there, and pretty soon you're talkin' about real money.

 

Looks like you'll have to use the cover plate of your existing water pump to make that complete. It should work fine though.
