06 R50 Mini's wipers won't stop running!

This has just recently become an occurrence where my MINI's windshield wipers will not stop working when commanded to stop. The only way to get them to stop running is to stop and turn off the car and then turn it back on... it obviously sounds like a wiring issue due to the fact that the motors are still running ha. If anyone can tell me where to start looking for this it would be much appreciated.

Having the same sort of problem with my '04 R50. In my case, the wipers will start running when I start the engine (or sometimes even just when turning the key to the accessory position). The HVAC also seems to fluctuate intermittently until the car warms up, and the air bag light flickers on and off. Not sure if it's a low battery or possibly a bad ground...any thoughts?

Exact same issue...

Hey guys, having the exact same issue with '05 MINI COOPER. Is your problem similar to what I am experiencing? I captured the issue on YouTube.

You have to have the Body Control Module coded to the vehicle using a factory scan tool. I recommend taking it to the a shop for further repair/diag

BC1 Already Replaced

Thanks for your reply Nitro Jake. I just had the BC1 replaced and coded at the dealership two weeks ago. This issue is still occurring after the fact.

I just created a thread with more details if you care to take a look:

did anyone ever figure out exactly what happens here. My wipers on my 04 mcs are doing the same thing, but nothing else is effected. I have tried swapping the relays around, but to no avail even when the car is shut off they run. So now i just don't use the wipers at all. i checked all the fuses and they are good i even swapped them out just to make sure. I measured voltage at the first relay terminal that controls the front wiper operations and it has 12v all the way through. I just don't know what to do to fix it and the closest Mini dealership is over an hour away.

Wiper fix

So I figured it out.
Spray wd40 into ignition switch and turn key off and on a few times and there you go!

That's GREAT !!

Just another quirky thing with our Minis

I wonder if static electricity built up over time that caused this ????????

NEVER leave home without WD-40 !!!
