My girlfriend has a 2009 Cooper s. We were driving from Connecticut to vermont and the oil light came on. She got her oil changed last week. Anyways it now is making a diesel noise coming from the engine... Really loud. I I checked the oil and there is enough. The check engine light came on after too.. We are now stuck... Please help.

 

My first guess would be that you timing chain tensioner blew up. But your oil level is correct? Did a dealer do the oil change? Was stock oil used? Stock oil filter? If the light came on, but you have the proper oil level, something deeper is going on. Something possibly very, very bad.

can you still drive the car? i had something very similar but it was very hard to get the car to move at all.
