Door speaker squeak/buzz

So I have had an intermittent low frequency squeak/buzz which comes from the passenger door speaker where the arm rest inserts (I have the base non-HK stereo). I've had this problem since I picked my 2012 MCS, and have been to the dealer three times and they havent acknowledge the issue. I even did a ride along with a tech and he couldn't hear it when it was clearly happening. I am not crazy as other passengers have commented on it. It tends to happen over rough pavement which is full of small continuous imperfections rather than over pot holes which makes me wonder if something is resonating and causing the problem. It happens when I am not playing music, it may be occurring with music but is not worsened by it and isnt noticeable. Please don't tell me the solution is to crank my music and drive.

I have taken off the dome shaped cover and filled it with foam tape which make the buzzing more prominent and present all the time rather than just intermittent. I also tried filling the area behind the speaker with foam which also made it worse. Removing the speaker eliminated the noise. Placing felt washers or thick tape between the speaker and mounting screw holes made no difference. I have dynamat on order to try and put on the metal behind the speaker but would really like some feedback from anyone else who has dealt with this problem.

Sounds like it may be the wiring harness tapping the door frame since you stated it stops when you take the speaker out. I foam taped all the speaker wiring in my doors to eliminate any of this problem.

I did exactly what you said! I put some wool felt between the wiring and door metal and strapped it down with gorilla tape and drove around without the speaker and got no noise. Screwed the speaker on and no Noise so far! I will declare it a success tomorrow after a 2 hour drive without the noise. Thanks for your help!

I spoke too soon...

Its back with a vengeance. I will take the speaker out tomorrow and see if my macgyver job has undone itself, but I also noted that the noise is now a solid buzz during strong acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear. Any more suggestions are welcome. Thanks in advance!
