Dash Pad removal?

I'm trying to pull the dash pad out to apply Dynamat to the underside to rid it of vibrations. I've got all the miscellaneous dash pieces off including the speedo assembly and the screws out of the front side of the dash pad but the right side of the pad won't come free of the car. The left side is loose. Does anyone have a write on how to remove this part or can someone point me in the direction of a hidden screw I may have missed? Thanks

Update: I got it out. Just needed to remove the two screws that were holding the bracket for the air bag. What a PITA. To think it would take that much work just to replace the air bag is un-nerving.

Well, it's not as if the air bag is a consumable part you replace on a regular schedule...

Did it help

I have had no luck with the dealership fixes for my dash pad's constant squeaking. Did dynamat help/do nothing/make it worse in your case? I've got a bulk pack and am trying to plan out my install locations. Thanks!

I used Damplifier Pro from Second Skin on the back of the dash pad itself and some Dynamat Xtreme I had laying around for all the smaller cosmetic pieces, since the dynamat was thinner. It worked great. No more vibrations/rattles from the dash. I'm very happy with the result. It was a ton of work though. I put it on every piece I could easily remove from the dash. All the trim pieces, I wrapped the a/c vents, the back of the speedo, knee bolster trim, and put as much Damplifier as I could on the dash pad itself w/o causing any clearance issues with re-installation. Every piece I took off the car to get the dash pad off, I put one of the products on it except the A-pilar covers.

A word of caution; be careful with the plastic trim; they scratch very easily and are incredibly expensive to replace. I found out the hard way. The one little trim piece that holds the Driving light switch was $100 to replace.

What kind of screws were they? I'm having the same thing. Loose on the left and stuck on the right. I see some screws around the airbag, they are not the T10's. Just not sure which ones will release the dash.

There are 2 t30 screws which are a bit larger anchoring the passenger airbag portion of the dash top pad to the metal frame behind the secret compartment. Once all the trim around the secret compartment is off, you should be able to slide out that while box and see these two larger screws. Also I am assuming you already removed the two t20s that are accessed thru the cent near the windshield just behind the 4-way flasher button. Let me know if you have any more issues, been there a few times.

These Screws Right?

Yes. Everything is out.
Secret compartment, side vent covers, ect.
I see the two screws that I think you're talking about but I was nervous about messing with them. ( check pic )
So after I remove them, the dash will slide off with the airbag assembly attached underneath?
Also, to pull it all of the way out I'm assuming there is a plug to disconnect. Do I need to disconnect the battery?
Thanks a lot. This has been pretty hard to find info on.

Yup just pull one lead off the battery. You'll have to disconnect the passenger dash airbag plug which you'll be able to access once you slide the dash pad towards the back of the vehicle to release it off 3 metal clips along the lower edge of the windscreen. There is also a small cable to disconnect from the temp sensor in the very middle of the dash pad close to the windscreen vent. This may only be there if you have auto climate control. The first time was horrible but now I am pretty comfortable doing it. Let me know if you get stuck.

I know this is an old post, but it took me a while to figure out those two bolts for the airbag bracket. I'm yanking and pulling...then ah ha!

Hi! I read your post and I did the same thing you wrote. When I replaced it all, I saw that the interior lights of the speedometer and its needle don't work... What do you think? Did I maybe forget to connect something in the car radio? Or did I maybe do something wrong with it? Please help me, I'm from Italy (and sorry for my bad english)! Thank you
