Ignition/Start-Up Malfunctions?

I drive a 2006 R50 MC.
I have a CAI, Borla Exhaust, and thicker sway bar but that doesn't matter.

I've been having an occurring problem starting my mini (Happens randomly)

I push in the clutch and turn the key to start it up, but then the Speedo needle begins to rattle, my car attempts to turn on, seeming to not get enough electricity flowing, and then stops.

Then usually upon second try, it starts up like normal except the time and mileage gauges are zeroed out.

I replaced the battery with a brand new one in hope of that being the problem, but it still happens occasionally.

Any Ideas?

That sounds like a computer problem to me-maybe reach out to 2006 owners specifically on this one? When you say "seeming to not get enough electricity flowing" do you mean the lights dim, starter cranks slowly?

The ignition kicks and seems like its going to start then just dies out. All the lights stay on and the needles all rattle. Then I turn the key again and it starts.
