rubber burning

My MCS 2005, 90K starts smelling like rubber burning, then I lost power (the car is moving no more than 3 miles/hour. now after 5 days sitting in the garage, the car is driving normal.
I just wanna know what's wrong with the car, and is there anything I need to fix, Thanks.

This would get more views if it were posted in the correct forum... This is for Classic Mini related topics.

You left the e-brake up while driving?
Your clutch is slipping?

Crankshaft pulley coming apart?
Also check the serpentine belt. Is it coming apart? Does it look like it was slipping? Are all the pulleys rotating freely (any noise)?
Was the A/C ON when the problem occurred and now it is OFF?
Maybe the A/C compressor or pulley is not working correctly.

Burning rubber is most commonly a broken crank pulley. If that is the case replace it with an ATI damper so it doesn't happen again.

Is anyone running the 2% Overdrive model of the ATI Super Damper?

Any opinions, noticeable changes, recommendations to go with the 2% or stock size version?

Planning to purchase one soon.

Thanks in advance!
Jason

Adding the overdrive pulley is an easy way to get an extra 2% of reduction from a 15% pulley more or less, giving you a 17% (equivelent of a 17% sc reduction pulley).

Imo staying with a dampened pulley is the way to go..
But some do go with an undampened one to save $$, but putting longterm longevity at risk.

I plan to go with the 2% crank pulley to go with my 12% JCW S/C pulley.

I've got a stock non-JCW with stock pulley. I don't plan on upgrading to a 15% reduction pulley. If I do get the 2% Overdrive ATI Super Damper, do you think I will have to change the belt to a smaller belt or even a JCW belt or can I go with a new stock belt?

New crank pulley to replace the vulnerable stock crank pulley and get an performance improvement the same time!
