The brake warning lite just came on for my 2006 S. The manual says to repace pads immediately. Is it ok to drive gently for a few days/weeks? I am not mechanical so looking at the pads is not an option. Thanks.

Unless you want to replace the rotors too I wouldn't let them go too long $$$$

BMW recommends, and practical experience demands that the rotors be 'renewed' at the same time anyway. The OEM rotors get eaten up big time by the OEM pads.
To the OP - yes, you have a few weeks, but it's definitely time to call someone who can do a brake job for you.
The brake warning light came on 6 months ago on my car. i just look at the pads and see it's still pretty thick so I left it on because i'm too lazy to change it.
The AVERAGE customer has 1500-2000 miles left once the light comes on before the pads are metal to metal, but I still advise not braking hard and being conservative.
