Deciphering Diagnostic Codes

I went through the trip test menu to see why my dad's check engine light is on in his 2002 Mini Cooper.

14.0 reads 672000
14.1 reads 000000
14.2 reads 000000
14.3 reads 000000
14.4 reads 000000

Am unable to find out what 672000 is referring to.

Requesting help either finding out what this code in particular means or who has the full list of possible codes.

Thank you,
James

I've been wondering the same for years.
No one seems to know.
Chances are excellent that 672000 means nothing of import.

Thanks for posting up!

I actually saw that post you had done from 2006 because I googled the fault code 14.0 earlier today.

Called dealer's around here today but only one had service hours on Saturday and the advisor did not call me back. Next week I am going to try another dealer or contact Mini directly. There is honestly no list I could find today online that tells you what those codes stand for.

Do you know how to diagnose and bring up the OBD PXXXX codes on the Mini? My dad is wondering if it his is 0xygen Sensor that is bad but would like to find out if any of the OBD codes first before he starts replacing parts.

I am actually in New Hope, PA so not far at all from you.

How do you like your Mini? Any mechanical issues that you are dealing with?

You need a code reader for the obd ii codes. I have the Peake one.

The odometer codes in 14.0 have nothing to do with the odb ones.
If the oxygen sensor is bad, the check engine light would be on.
You can often get codes read at an auto part store.

New Hope ... did you know "Ruthie" before she passed away a few years ago?

Love my 2003 MINI MC - currently free of problems after getting a few things
fixed earlier this year (thermostat gasket, oil pan gasket, crankshaft o-ring,
left transmission shaft seal, misadventure with the wrong transmission fluid, and
poly control arm bushings). Relatively trouble free the previous 7 years.

Ah okay thank you for telling me that you need the reader to get the OBD codes. I have a 2005 Dodge Ram and I can cycle the key and it will give me the OBD codes if there is any without having to hook up to a reader.

No I did not know Ruthie. Can you please tell me who that was.

Glad to know that you currently have no issues. My dad has not had any of those problems with his. All he has had was the AIRBAG and ABS light on and also the exhaust rusted. I am still helping him with those other lights on as well. My dad just turned 150k in his. How many miles are on your's?

Included a picture of my dad's from this morning.

Ruth Catherine Christopher was a frequent (over 19,000 posts), well known, and well liked poster on mini2.com from 2003 to 2006, among other things.
