Hello I have a 07s Automatic. at 40,000 miles my engine light came on and was running rough. Minni said I had carbon build up I asked how they deal with it and they said the manually remove it. I now have 45,000 miles and the light came on again and its starting to run rough. Is this somthing thats going to continue. I use 93 octane and Im not shy with the throttle. Is any one else having the same problem. Or has anyone been able to fix this for good

 

A couple of thoughts...

Where is the carbon buildup? Valves? You mentioned the dealer had to manually remove it, I can only assume they took the head off and cleaned the valves?

Regardless, there are two things I would think about.

1) a tune... a tune will make the car run better but also, usually much leaner than stock.

2) if you don’t do a tune, then I’d at least buy some BG or some sort of fuel or oil additive... surely it would be cheaper than paying to have the valves cleaned.

+1 on the BG44K. One can then fill the tank and repeat about every 6 months. You WILL see a difference.

 

BG ???? Opinions on Seafoam?
