Camshaft Position Sensor - Problem!
Camshaft Position Sensor - Problem!
I recently replaced my camshaft with a RMW Street Camshaft. I followed the Bentley-Manual. When I went to start the engine up, all it did was crank over but did not start. A fault code appeared, which was DTC P0340 (Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Circuit Malfunction). I got a new CPS and replaced it but with no luck. Engine still cranks over but does not start and DTC P0340 appeared again. This time (something I should of done before) is I took a Multimeter and checked the connections going to the CPS.
Holding the plug with the clip side up, I went from left to right with the probe.
I set the key to the "ON" Position
I set the Multimeter to OHMS and this is what happened.
Left Pin (Brown/Violet - Ground) = Needle moved to the "Green" so this pin was in good shape.
Middle Pin (Black/Violet - Sensor Signal) = Needle moved backwards
Right Pin (Red/Green - TMAP Reference Voltage) = Needle moved backwards
----
So assuming I tested the connections properly, I would say I have a bad harness/wiring. Unless I'm wrong, could someone tell me what I should do and what the problem could possible be?
Thanks!

My first question for you would be. Did you change your Camshaft before you ran into problems with the CPS?
I did find out why my CPS wasn't functioning and that's because the Camshaft was NOT rotating. I had decided to remove the valve cover and after removing that, I looked down and noticed that there was NO timing chain on the Cam Sprocket!! The GP is currently at a repair shop getting the head fixed because some Valves bent... Hoping to have the GP back today.
Hopefully this isn't the same problem you're having!

That sounds terrible! I had that happen to me on my previous Audi that had a belt.
But to answer your question, no, I was just driving down the road and lost all power. Car idled super rough, towed it to the house, scanned the codes then erased. The car wouldn't start after that. Then I changed the CPS, no luck. Valve cover cones off today I guess...
Hate this crap
