And another Clutch bites the dust....

I have now joined the ranks of many who have lost their clutch in less then 20k miles! This to me is bazaar but the mini still charms me to death so I can't seem to sell It although the 1M is tempting:-)
The dealer stated that this was a user error which seems to be the story told to many owners who lost their clutch. Either the past 20 years and 13 cars I've owned with a manual have been really tolerant, or the mini clutch is delicate.
Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

I'm curious to know how did the dealer prove it was an user error?

They stated that I must have been riding the clutch. I never ride or rest my foot on the clutch... I looked at the old clutch and it was terribly scorn! Cannot understand how it fried so quickly and easily!
And No I am not paying for this. I have bought a lot of vehicles from this dealer, and have a great reputation with them and they with me. The people at this dealership are top notch!

This is really the only thing Im worried about on my 2011. It seems they are very fragile for some reason.

Out of all the cars I owned 90% have been manual transmissions. My first one had 120k on it and what appeared to be the original clutch that I put another 40k on it in two years.

I agree! I'm preparing for a high performance clutch when this one goes out!

Mine is so weak I cant spin the tires (never could). I noticed this very early on so I have been babying the clutch. I never use sport mode from a standing start. It is a shame because I bet you could shave at least .2 seconds off the 0-60 time with a decent clutch on these cars.

Getrag = gearbox

gearbox/trans not the same as clutch. Others w/ the parts experience can comment, but the clutch will come from a Sachs or a TRW or some supplier in that materials and friction business.
