Door handles seem harder to open

Anyone else experience this. It seems my door handles requires a lot more pressure to open.

Search archives.

Already a prior recent post on this, and better not to have the content scattered across different posts. The prior one had a bunch of input already.

There are times one or the other won't open at all for me. I have to reach from the other side and open from inside. Once both - and I had to crawl in from hatch. For me it seems to happen when car has sat out in sun all day as when I am at work.
I'm trying to find time to bring it in. I think there have been other threads on this.

I searched but was unable to find another thread on this topic. Since I'm having difficulty opening both doors from outside and the closest dealer is some four hours away, could someone point me to the appropriate thread. (Or just summarize what was suggested?)

I've noticed this now that Buffalo is out of the deep freeze.

I drop the windows with the key a little to let the car "exhale" a little and equalize the pressure.

Works like a charm.

After the brutal winter we had in Ohio, my driver's side handle became difficult to squeeze to open the door. I put some multi-purpose grease on the latch in the door as well as on the hook on the door frame. This helped it considerably, but it is still takes a firmer squeeze to open than the passenger side.

I did find this thread that discusses the issue to some extent:

Prior threads...

seemed to note a correlation w/ outside temps. Also had to sort out those who had comfort lock from those who don't perhaps, as another variable here. Find the thread for any who had the mechanism changed (IIRC, didn't clear it up). Depending on situation and door alignment, adjusting striker plate on the door jamb is another possibility.

Dealer just "fixed" this - fix was lube of latch and hinges. Must be that tight pressure on the latch causes the handle to be tight. Easy try - find some grease, grease up the latch and open close a few times.
