brakes have worn enuf to trip one of the sensors... need a visual check to determine if it is front or rear

you need to replace those pads and the consumed sensor. generally the rotors would be changed too but you many be able to go w/out

 

First of all, thank you. That's what I thought. Another question, while I have your attention. Could I fit the R56 JCW big brakes to an R53 for the front and rear?

The front brakes will swap out ok.
I believe the R56 rears are different than R53's as far as mounting points go.

 

I've done a quick search here and I'm beginning to learn that would be the case.
