My only concern would be that the two halves arent clamped together except by the screws holding it to the puller itself. Other than that, it looks like it would work fine.

Methinks I need to guinea pig this setup on my car...

If you order the mini-maddnes or mania (can't remember which) you get this with the pulley, as one kit. It worked fine for me and is more that sufficently strong to do the job. Mine is aluminum with two robust bolts securing one side to the other.

Here is the link:

http://www.mini-madness.com/index.as...&ProdID=10

It's a good kit that is VERY easy to use, and the puller is reuasable as all get out. You could travel around the country and do the job with the tool.

The fact of the matter is that the pully is not pressed on with all that much torque.

I was following this thread and noticed the confusion in interpreting how the pulley puller that we sell works. I just reshot the product to better show how it works, which should clarify things.

It's a great product, in fact we can hardly keep them in stock!!!

I just used Outmotoring's puller tool last night. It has two hefty allen head bolts that hold it together tight on the pulley. It worked fine, not slipping a bit despite my pulley taking about 4 minutes of continuous impact due to unexpected tightness on the shaft.

I've seen Eric Savage from Helix use a puller like that and he had the pulley off the car in minutes! Of course, this was after removing the airbox, ECU and undoing the motor mount.
