Steering Jerks?

sup all!

wanted to see if anyone ever encounter this issue, any idea/help would be great!

when going over 40mph, my wheel/steering jerks when i'm coming up to a curve road..no problems on straight aways, but as soon as i hit the turn (highway) the wheel will slight jerk to the direction i'm turning for a split second (right at the begining but once it corrects itself it smooth thru out the turn)..

FYI, before this happen, 3 wks prior, my wheel harden up when it got really cold and a couple of days later it was fine again, could there be a leak in the rack & pinion to cause this problem? the Mechanic threw out a possilbity that it could be the hydraulic pump, but i'm not if that's possibile b/c i can't see the pump making the wheel/steering jerk like that???

More likely to be the pump than the rack.....try changing the fluid first, it gets old and gummy. Be sure to get the right stuff too, the green Pentosin....

actually that's exactly what i did when it harden up, i bought the stuff from the Mini dealer and added it but it didn't look empty or anything and after pouring some more in and turning the wheel back and fourth, its soften up. But like i said, the slight jerk is making me nervous b/c its only doing it during turns, but only above 40mph????

My steering does this too but it's at all speeds and not just going into a turn. I"m hoping its just out of alignment or something easy like that. I'll be replacing shocks/struts very soon w/ an alignment from the dealer. I'll let you know if it fixes it.
