belt squeak at idle?

My car started squeaking on the passenger side of the engine, I looked quickly at the belt but didn't see any wear. It only squeaks at idle. As soon as I press on the gas the sound is gone. It also seems that the sound got quieter but still present once the engine heated up. I'm not expert when it comes to engines so I would like to know how much this should ring me at a reputable indy mini shop.

I have a 2006 MC with stick. 72 000 (KM's) so thats about what 40 000miles.

Any clue what this may be?

Probably just needs the belt replaced. Should be cheap.

Ok my 2004 MCS 6M is doing the same thing. I noticed this one day after it rained, and now its sporadic but i can very well hear the squeak at idle and upon shutting down the engine. Ive heard that it may be the belt also, but it seems diffucult to replace

I have been experiencing the same issues you have. I think in my case it is the belt tensioner. What I did to try to diagnose the problem last night was cover the pulleys and belts with paper or cardboard while the car was off and cold. I then sprayed the belt tensioner with WD40. Once I removed the paper and cardboard from the car I started it and sure enough the noise went away. However, this morning when I started my car the noise was back. In my case I know it's not the belts as they are all new.

I replaced the supercharger pulley and belt, noise went away and was replaced with a louder whine noise
tensioner was fine, the belt was just getting bad.

Also, it could sometimes be humidity as well. My belt squeaks if it is very humid throughout the day then when I start it up to go to work after school it is squeaking. Then after a few minutes the sound is gone. My belt is in good condition anyways so if a little condensation gets under the belt then that can happen.
