AM Radio Lost Signal

I have a 2007 MC and recently lost the signal for my AM radio. I used to get stations from a hundred miles or so away, and now I just get static. The ones that are close to me still come in, but the reception is very poor. I am guessing this is an antenna issue, anyone experience anything similar and know how to fix it? Thanks for your input.

I haven't had this problem with the MINI, but my previous car ('98 VW GTI) lost AM reception once, and the problem turned out to be in the antenna.

More likely the cable from the antenna. How is FM reception?

The mini uses a "diversity antanna" system and as such has an amplifier for the antanna system. God possibility that the module is bad

Have you recently installed a shorty antennae? The roof antennae is the AM antennae, the FM antennae is in the side glass.

Not totally true.

With the diversity antenna system the signal is from both the roof antenna and the side window antenna are sent thru a module and the better signal is chosen and sent to the radio.

Yes the side window antenna is designed for FM signals it still picks up some AM and the roof antenna is designed for both AM and FM.
