02 MCS Stalling when fuel is low

Hey Folks, just got a 02 MCS with 66k on the clock. Was working great except the fuel guage was indicating empty when the tank was full. The level lowered and the guage seemed to work fine. Once I got near the low level, the mini would stall when accelerating (complete loss of power). After a refuel, full power is back and I cannot duplicate the problem. I am wondering if the fuel guage is inaccurate at this point or is the fuel pump is bad (unable to produce enough pressure when the fuel tank is near empty).

I am thinking of replacing the float on the passenger side anyways. I am wondering if I should do the pump at the same time.
Thanks
Andrew

Before you get into major issues try replaceing the fuel filter.
Bet it hasn't be done for several years.
You should see some of the crap that comes out of an old filter.

The pump is electric and basically will either work or not work at all once they go bad. Nothing in between.

I am on my 2nd fuel filter though. 1st one at 53K and second one at 102K - it's very good advice.

Ok first up 1 fuel filter. As long as I'm going in there I might as well replace that float for the fuel sensor.
Thanks and I will update once this has been accomplished.
