Engine misfire in cylinder 2!!!
Engine misfire in cylinder 2!!!
Hey guys, my car had been sitting for about 2 days covered in a bunch of snow and sustained some pretty cold temperatures. I got up today, started her up and she run rough as heck so I turned her off and restarted her to which she run just fine but the check engine light came on, had it diagnosed and it read misfire in cylinder 2, what am I looking at here? My car is an 03 mcs with 67000 miles, just had a 15% put in around may this year and replaced the plugs while at it might this be my wires? thanks!
Maybe it was just from a drippy injector and sitting....
Did the code reappear if/when you cleared it?
Is the car now running ok?
Best case senario...it is a onetime event...maybe with bad wires, corrosion on a terminal of the coil...
Worst case is much worse, but till the basics are ruled out, don't worry.
Just be sure you are using the best octane you can buy...many of thses issues devolp overtime from using lower than spec fuel...and you need more octane with a pulley....

thanks so much, ive always run premium fuel since i got the car about a year ago. The guys at autozone showed me what the code read but did not clear it, i dont know why i didnt ask him to do so, I guess i was just freaking out on what it couldve been. Car's running fine, the light is still on, planning on taking it to a shop tomorrow morning so they can diagnose the problem. Thanks alot once again.
I just got the same code the other day. The engine hesitated a little when it happened (at about 70 MPH). It won't clear (tried with the ElmScan tool). I'm going to try some new plugs (cheapest thing first). Let me know what you find and I'll keep you posted as well.
Hey mich linux guy, shop tried new plugs, wires and ever distributor and none of them made a difference they later said that its a faulty injector, ordered it friday and am hoping to get it by monday, will keep you posted on how it turns out. Best of luck with your car, keep us posted.
Tested cylinder pressure and changed plugs.
I put a new set of spark plugs in and I still could not get the code to reset (cylinder 2 misfire). I checked the cylinder pressure in cylinder 2; it is 200 PSI. I think that is good. The car is actually running very well; the light and code bother me. Maybe I have a bad injector as well.
Thanks for the update. Let me know how it goes with the new injector. Good luck with it!

Trouble code cleared when engine not running.
FYI:
I had only tried clearing my trouble code (P0302 - Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected) with the engine running. Apparently, that doesn't work. I successfully cleared the code with the ignition on and the engine NOT running. Once I started the engine, the code did not return. I have a trip planned this evening; hopefully, the code won't come back.
At this point, I don't know if the misfire was an intermittent thing or the spark plugs change solved it.

I have put about 300 miles on my Mini (2003) since I cleared the fault code. So far, it has not come back. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Several years ago, I was having a problem with engine hesitation when the engine was cold. The service advisor at the dealer told me to try regular gasoline. It solved the problem. After the latest problem I was having, I started burning mid-grade in it. We'll see what happens. Good luck with your Mini, gulewamkulu!
