Stuttering / Turbo noise

Ok, so I've noticed that occasionally when I'm driving a little spiritedly that I get heavy stuttering from my MCS. There's a wickedly loud noise, almost like someone dumped a couple bolts into the turbo, and power drops big time.

It normally happens under a heavy RPM 3rd - 4th shift.

If I let off the gas and let RPM's come back down, it settles down like normal.

It doesn't always happen, but it freaks me out when it does.

Any suggestions?

Oh, and the tailgate... sometimes I have to click the unlock button in order to get it to re-latch while closing it. The receiver is wide open, but won't latch. Anyone ever had that problem?

I've been having a similar stuttering problem at 50+ mph at high rpms, let me know if you get it figured out, my dealership hasn't been able to :(

Well the dealership called me yesterday to say they replaced my spark plugs and that I could pick it up today which I wasn't too happy about because I knew replacing the spark plugs wasn't going to fix my problem. However I just got off the phone with my SA and he says a tech drove it home last night and had the same problems as me and apparently my car is frying one of the spark plugs so they're starting the process of getting an engineer down there and swapping out my engine, which is the exact phone call I was hoping for! If you're under warranty -runnr I would bring it in to get checked out, and be persistent, they've given me back my car without fixing it quite a few times for this problem, although you may not be having the same issues as me. Good luck!

I'm having this problem currently as well. I thought it may be due to my tune, but it's really fairly intermittent. It's kind of disturbing when it happens!

I recorded the sound my car was making, hopefully it's not the one you guys are also hearing because it seems to be quite an expensive one to fix if you're not under warranty

Mine sounds more like someone took a handful of nails and tossed it into the turbo.

Mines under warranty, however the closest dealer is 2.5 hours away... Would take me a whole day to get there and back, and I'd end up doing that twice.

*sigh*

Mine isn't the Turbo MINI - it's a 2005 S with the supercharger... but I'm having the same problem with the stuttering. If I'm above 32K RPM - and stay consistently above 32K, it's fine for about 20+ miles. If I have to drop below that (for a slower car on the freeway...which there are many) - it will stutter for the rest of my drive, and then the DSC light comes on. It feels like someone is hitting my brakes a lot. No odd sounds. Just loss of power. And really only at high speeds. I tested it on the back roads, and kept the RPMs above 32K then let it drop below and back up, and it barely barely stuttered. Maybe just not as noticeable at slower speeds?

I wish I had an engine that could go 20 miles with the engine spinning at 32k rpm.

Your problem will not be the same as the others in this thread as you have a completely different engine. You would want to post in the first generation section.

haha oops. Yeah, I was thinking in my head 3K...but it's at 3200 where the problem seems to come from... so it just ended up 32000 too )It was a Monday...can't blame me) I know it's a different engine... just trying to find similar problems to see if anyone had a more "wide spread" solution... like dirty gas or something.
