Hello everyone, since I bought my mini from my brother in law 6 months ago y have been very happy with it. Its a regular(non s) model but with the JWC kit.

Yesterday the transmission began making a screeching noise in first and second, a lot les sound in third and no sound in fourth or fifth gear. As far as i know from what i have read here it seems like i have the problematic midlands transmission.

I got the car to mi house, everything still worked, I had no problem engagin gears or moving the car or anything just the noise in those gears. I wont move again till i get it towed to a mechanic but i just wanted to ask if anyone knows what it could be.

internal parts are available through the dealer for this transmission, so if your mechanic is good with them, he should be able to fix it. I would expect about 15 hours labor plus parts. It will need a few bearings at a minimum
