Emergency Brake Light Remains Lit

2002 mini Cooper s with 84,000 miles.

Recently, after returning to the mini from work and releasing the hand-brake the brake light remained lit. I took it to be checked out and the shop said, "your master cylinder was stuck open." So I went on my way and 2 days later the light has come back on! I should note that when driving 2-miles or more the "DSC disengaged" light comes on.

Anyone have any thoughts?

You would be better off to post this over in the Gen 1 section as your cars is an 02 per your statement.

I smell a skunk

e-brake is mechanical, right? What's that got to go with a master cyl'? And DSC light comming on .... hmmmmm, sounds electrical or two unreleated issues.....

p.s. for Shatz' - you're right and I expect this to be moved quickly. I just reported it by clicking the little triangle icon in first post and giving reason of complaint: GEN1 question. I've found mods to move such a post within the hour typically.....

TADA!!!!!!!!

E brake light comes on if the brake fluid is low....
Or if the switch on the E brake is bad or the wiring gets cut

check your brake fluid, your master or slave cylinder could be going bad. (this happened to me and if i remember right it was the slave)
