Quiet HK volume

When listening to the radio, the volume is way to quiet with my HK stereo while the windows/roof are open. If I switch to CD/iphone the volume is much much louder.. usually too loud.

Is there any way to adjust the radio volume other than the volume ****? Anyone else have this issue?

Assuming you're using Aux in, there is a separate (relative) volume control for that. IIRC, hold the 'note' symbol, then keep pressing and you'll get to Aux volume - adjust w/volume ****.

The Aux is fine, as is CD. Im just talking about the radio. Everything else I can hear fine with the windows down, but whenever I try to listen to NPR or most talk radio its way too quiet at full volume.

Huh - sounds strange. Is your NPR on AM or FM?

Try a stronger local FM station and see if the problem persists. It may be that the station hosting your talk radio just isn't very loud.

Also, set you bass and treble controls to mid-scale if they're not already there. Setting the bass and/or treble much above mid-scale will reduce the overall volume of the H/K system pretty significantly, and it might be more noticeable on the radio than on the other sources.

Its all the stations, AM / FM. Overall, just seems very quiet. I used to live in Chicago, and it was the same there too. Must be the stereo...

Anyone? Aux / CD is fine. All AM/FM radio is too quiet, no matter what station in Chicago. Any ideas? Can most of you hear the radio with your windows down?

I had HK in my '03 & have it in my current '06. No huge volume differences between radio and cd. Can hear both with windows down. Of course, cd always sounds clearer/louder.

Thanks! That was a good read, I figured out that if I have my bass and treble all the way up, it limits your peak volume. I flattened it out, and instantly louder.

Thanks so much!

I guess you missed post #6 -

Glad to hear you got it sorted out!

Do you have the Speed Sensitive volume control? If so, what is its setting (try other settings?). Just guessing that possibly you have it set to greatly reduce the radio's volume when not moving.

While I have a H/K radio, it doesn't seem to have the Speed Sensitive volume control feature as mentioned in its manual.

in my 06 the Cd and fm are allot louder than the ipod, with the windows down at speed i cant hear it, really annoying.i have tried holding the note key and looking for an aux volume but havent found it yet. I'll have to double check my bass treble, and mid settings and make sure none of them are way up.
